Summer Essentials ūüćĻ

What time is it? It’s summer time! (Yes, that was a High School Musical reference). It’s been so incredibly hot here in the UK the past few days and I’ve acquired quite a few essentials to get me through this time as I’m a massive lover of cold weather. This blog post is basically about all the things I think you absolutely NEED.

1. Banana Milkshake

This might sound simple and random but honestly, this is the best thing ever. I use soya milk and Nesquik Banana Powder to create mine. It takes 5 seconds to do and tastes incredible. Throw some ice cubes in and you’re good to go! My favourite thing this summer!

2. Snickers Ice Cream

Oh. My. Gosh. I had forgotten how amazingly perfect Snickers Ice Cream is. I could eat about 10 of them per day (I try not to though haha). Also, for those who might be interested, the ice cream version of Snickers doesn’t contain egg. My boyfriend doesn’t eat egg products, so he for one is more than happy about this ice cream. The best snack for this summer hands down!

3. Dresses!

I’ve never been one to wear dresses but these hot days have completely converted me. My favourite ones are from New Look, so if you’re on the look out for a new summer dress then check it out. I pair mine with white Converse and it’s honestly the comfiest outfit ever!

4. Yellow Nail Polish

Yellow is my favourite colour, so of course it makes me happy to wear yellow nail polish. But honestly, what other colour represents summer better than yellow? I recently bought this nail polish by Barry M and it has quickly become my favourite. I can wear a dull coloured outfit with just this nail polish and it just brightens up the whole look!

Let me know what your summer essentials are – I’d love to discover some more staples!

Be kind, be humble.

Summer 2017 Bucket List!

So each summer I like to create a small bucket list of things I want to do or accomplish throughout the 3 months I have off. Since this is one of the last summers that I can enjoy completely free from typical 9-5 work, I’ve decided to make the most of it. I don’t want to waste away my last summer of freedom. I want to seize every opportunity and do everything I can to be the best me. These goals, aims or however you’d prefer to name them, can be as small or big as you want them to be. Some might even seem impossible but it’s important to dream big. Set yourself some outrageous goals because otherwise how would you be able to find out your full potential? So here’s my list, including the silliest little things to some bigger goals I’d like to achieve.

1. Increase my water intake. I am the worst at getting my daily water intake. But summer is the best time to change that. I can already envision ¬†all the lovely mint, lemon or strawberry ice waters I’m going to drink as well as the enormous amounts of watermelon I’m going to consume. And I’m so excited. I’ve already downloaded an app called My Water to ensure I hit my daily target. Get the app yourself & we can all encourage each other to drink more water and keep ourselves hydrated!

2. Go on a road trip. I just want to sit in a car and drive somewhere without having a set destination. Just drive, listen to music with our windows open and actually enjoy the journey itself, letting the road take us wherever it wants. I just want to seize the moment and not take anything for granted. The world is so beautiful, it’s up to us to enjoy it.

michelle-kim-242298adrian-209344

3. Gain 200 subscribers on my YouTube channel. This is kind of a personal goal of mine and it’s pretty specific. Lately I’ve been so into making videos and I love seeing my channel grow with more and more people enjoying the content I make. Seeing the number to reach 200 would mean so much to me. It would mean that people enjoy what I make as much as I enjoy making it. Of course it’s not all about the numbers, but you’ve got to set some sort of goals for yourself to measure your success.

4. Social Media Freelancing. I’d love to get some freelancing jobs in social media, creating design, scheduling content and overall managing the effectiveness of some business’s social media platforms. I also aim to create websites and social media platforms for companies that currently have no online presence whatsoever. It’s time to do something that I’m so passionate about.

5. Wear more skirts and dresses. I’ve never been the type of girl who wears dresses. I’m more of a jeans kinda girl. Well, this summer it’s time for a change. I don’t want to suffocate my legs in skinny jeans so I’m stepping out of my comfort zone and getting my legs a tan by wearing a dress and I’m going to enjoy it.

6. Go to festivals. This summer is the summer of festivals and events. Doesn’t matter where, I will be there. I want to make the most of the entertainment that the world offers, especially in the UK. After the past events happening, I think it’s so important to not be afraid of events. It’s important to stand together and not let others keep us from things we enjoy.

7. Change my hair. I’m not entirely sure what I want to do with my hair but all I know is that I need a change. Maybe I should go a bit lighter? Maybe a bit more colourful? I’m not even sure yet so if you have any suggestions, let me know!

8. Create more unique content. I currently love all the posts and videos I create but I know I can do even better. I want to use all my skills to to create something unique. So I hope you guys will support me throughout this journey of becoming a more efficient me.

So these are my little bucket list goals that I would like to achieve this summer. Some things might be more challenging to others than you so if someone else sets goals that seem a bit silly to you, do not judge them. Let’s all support each other in achieving their dreams. Let’s live in love.

Be kind, be humble.

Summer 2017 Bucket List!

Moving House.

Hello everyone! To most of you, this blog post won’t be that different. But for me life has completely transformed. I’ve moved house! I’m still in the United Kingdom but as I just finished my Bachelors Degree at University College Birmingham, I had to move out of my student accommodation. I’ve lived in student accommodation for three years and I can definitely say that’s enough for me. My future is now in Loughborough, where I will be studying for a Masters Degree in International Management.

And because my boyfriend is also a student at Loughborough University studying Civil Engineering, we thought why don’t both of us move out of student accommodation and rent a whole house for ourselves instead?

So here I am, sat on the floor of our living room (because I can’t find my long laptop charger and the plug is too far from the couch), hotspotting data from my phone (since we still don’t have any Wi-Fi), and thinking of how lucky I am.

When I first moved to England, I had no idea that I would end up in Loughborough. I wouldn’t even have dreamt of living in a house with someone I love after my Bachelors Degree. But here I am, happier than ever.

For the past few days, we’ve been putting together furniture and I can honestly tell you that putting together IKEA furniture is far harder than you think. If you think you can put together 10 big pieces of furniture in one day, think again. It’s taken us around 2-3 days to put together all furniture, we’ve had numerous nights of staying up until 5 am but it has been so worth it. I finally feel like home in England. It used to feel kind of like a stop along the way of my journey, but now it finally feels official. I live in the United Kingdom. Who would’ve ever guessed that. I cannot even express how happy I am. My lifelong dream has finally come true at the age of 22, and this is just the first step of my journey. I have so many more hopes and dreams, so many places still visit and so many experiences to still go through. I am so excited for everything that the future holds, and this is just the beginning.

So what’s better about living in a house rather than in student accommodation? Well, here’s a shortlist I can make in two minutes flat:

  1. No noise. Yes, neighbours can be noisy but we are quite lucky as so far we haven’t heard anything at all. It’s so nice to finally have peace and quiet.
  2. No parties. This kind of goes together with the first point but this also means that you can sleep whenever without anyone waking you up in the middle of the night. And this I’m so happy about!
  3. CLEAN KITCHEN / LIVING ROOM! Now this is by far my favourite thing about living in our own house. No filthy food in the sink, no mountains of unwashed dishes, no someone’s week-old leftovers, no stinky fridge, no oily cookers, no mess. I honestly cannot express to you how disgusting living with 10 people gets, especially when you like everything clean and tidy. I feel a thousand times more motivated and happy now that I don’t have to walk through a dirty kitchen every day. YAY!
  4. SO MUCH SPACE! Another very important part is the space. In student accommodation I had 2 little cupboards that barely fit any food inside. Plus, in the fridge I had just half a shelf as well as one shelf in the freezer. Now we’ve got the whole fridge and freezer to ourselves. There’s just something about having all that space to ourselves and knowing we are keeping it clean – not just throwing our leftovers in it.
  5. Just us. In our house, it’s just us. I honestly appreciate alone time so much. Most of the time in student accommodation, I’d run to the kitchen, cook something quickly, run back to my room, put my headphones in and ignore the world haha. Now, there’s just no need. Some of you might like having people around constantly but not me.

Overall, living in our own little house is amazing. We are only getting started with all the decorating but it already feels like home. I hope you guys are having a lovely time enjoying your time off from university, but life’s too short to waste days on doing nothing. Do what I did and make at least one of your dreams come true this summer.

Be kind, be humble, make it happen.

Moving House.

Trust.

Trust can be a funny thing. Some might say it’s an emotion. According to the Cambridge Dictionary, “to trust is to believe that someone is good and honest and will not harm you.”¬†Trust does heavily rely on feelings and therefore it affects our emotions. Trust is important in all types of relationships in our lives, friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, parents, anyone. Trust¬†is earned. Trust does not just pop up overnight like a Twitter notification. You don’t instantly start trusting your friend not to tell others your secrets and your partner to always treat you right. It happens overtime by learning more about each other. By building the relationship between each other. When I trust the people in my life, I don’t ever even second guess it. If I trust someone, I do so completely and utterly. I don’t go around trying to dig deep to find something. I don’t go searching for anything because once you trust someone, this wouldn’t even come to mind.

However, if you were to find out that someone has betrayed your trust, it gets tricky. Some people seem to think that it’s easy to trust that person again and be 100% normal with them, but it’s a bit harder than that. Especially when you trusted them so completely that you would’ve never even guessed it. It’s even worse if they do something that affects how much (or little) you trust them again. So if you’re the person that’s messed up and you want to regain someone’s trust again… here’s what you should do. There’s not guarantee that this will help, but it’s always better to try and fail than to never try at all.

Processed with VSCO with b5 preset

1. Show them that you’re sorry.

If you treat it like an issue that’s not really that important, it will make the person feel like you don’t even care. So what’s the point of them even investing their feelings and emotions in you again? So make sure you’re sincerely sorry for whatever you did and make sure they know that. It always helps to apologise right away instead of arguing and making each other more upset. Sometimes an apology from the bottom of your heart that comes right away is all it takes.

2. Be kind.

Don’t get angry at them for not trusting you. I know this might just be an instant reaction but don’t do it. That’s just not going to help, at all. I’ve had instances in my life where the people betraying my trust got upset with me for not trusting them right away and even shifting the blame on me. This will just make matters worse. Be kind, be understanding.¬†Don’t bring out past issues, don’t shift the blame. Be nice and accept it if you did something wrong.

3. Show them that they can trust you again.

Invest some of your feelings in them. Perhaps tell them something about you that nobody knows. Show them that you trust them just as much as they should trust you. Don’t repeat your mistakes. Don’t do things that would make them paranoid. Show them that you can be trusted and sooner or later they will.

Of course, you can’t always please everyone and you shouldn’t waste your whole life trying to prove yourself to someone. ¬†But if you show them you’re sorry, that you’re kind to them and that you show them you can be trusted again,¬†you won’t have to waste years to get their trust back. Trust is earned and if you treat people right, they will treat you right back.

Be kind, be humble.

Trust.

Growing apart…

There are so many friendships and relationships that just completely disappear. You see the person you used to be best friends with and you greet each other like you would greet just another acquaintance. Sometimes it’s hard. Sometimes we don’t even think about it. The disappearance of a friendship might be the best or worst thing that’s ever happened. Especially when the friendship meant a lot to you.

I have had my fair share of friendships as I’m 22 years old and when you are little you gain new friendships every day. There are some that I can’t even really remember but there are some that I sometimes look back on. I’m not going to name any names but the people reading this will know if it’s about them. I’ve only got good things to say about you so don’t worry haha!

My first proper friendship started in kindergarten. We were in the same group and we were inseparable. We ended up going to the same school TWICE in a row (1-4th grade in one school and 5-12th in another). I think we drifted apart when we got accepted to the new school where we spent our 5th-12th grade. It didn’t happen¬†suddenly, I think it just happened over time. We made new friends and then we really never spoke again or visited each other again. I still remember her room and the garden where we used to hang out and it’s only good memories. It was nice to have someone to walk through life with, to apply to schools with and to just have fun with. I hope you know that you were one of the most important friends in my life.

Another best friend I had¬†was as in love with Romeo & Juliet as I was. We cut out tops from bedsheets to make Romeo & Juliet fandom shirts. They were pretty horrible, but we loved them and I’m pretty sure I still have them stored somewhere. We would stay over at each other’s and stay up all night dancing and singing and just being ridiculous. That was one of the most fun friendships of my life and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Sometimes it’s not just friendships that grow apart, it can be family members that you just don’t talk to anymore that often. Me & my brother used to be quite close. Although we argued (like brothers and sisters do), I knew he was my rock and I could always count on him. I remember one time that I got driven over by a motorcycle (I think it was attempting a backflip off my back or something ridiculous) and the first person I called to pick me up was my brother. Now he has his own family because he’s quite a bit older than me but I hope he knows that I love and miss him a lot, although we don’t speak that often anymore (look at us silly billies on the picture below, we are totally ridiculous but also very happy¬†haha).

There are other friendships that I’m also sad that ended but if I talked about all of them, I would have to stay here typing all day and you’d basically be reading a book!

Growing apart doesn’t mean not caring. These people are still very important in my life. And I have¬†the most amazing friends in my life now that I will make sure I will annoy for the rest of my life.

I Won The #TheBloggersHub Giveaway!

Hey, everyone! I hope you’re doing super well! This week I wanted to tell you a little bit about blogging, giveaways and show you the giveaway prizes I won!

There are so many amazing blogging communities on Twitter, that support bloggers, connect them to brands as well as to other bloggers. It is a lovely help system for bloggers who are just starting out as getting noticed can be very hard in this huge expanding world of blogging. My favourites are: The Bloggers Hub, Bloggers Who Brunch and Blogging Gals. I mainly use the support system of #TheBloggersHub. I recently hosted a Twitter Chat on their page where I talked to lots and lots of amazing bloggers around the world and it was truly an amazing experience. Twitter chats usually happen a few days a week for one hour so make sure you get involved if you’re a beginner blogger as it really helps!

So now that you know a little bit more about the help system of new bloggers, I’d also like to talk about GIVEAWAYS! These accounts often collaborate with brands to get them out to bloggers. I recently won a giveaway hosted by The Bloggers Hub who collaborated with Leighton Denny Nails. I was given so many amazing nail polishes and other products and I think this is a great way to find out about new products as well as get some freebies! As a student, who doesn’t love free stuff, right? So let me tell you a little bit about what I got.

Skincare / Hair care:

1. Josh Wood Radiant Shine Hair Treatment Oil

The most fancy hair product I’ve ever owned. I mean it comes with a pipette! I’ve used this a couple of times after washing my hair and it makes it super silky and smooth. So far so good! Not entirely sure if it is worth the price as the Garnier Ultimate Blends does the same job for me with much less money.

2. Percy & Reed Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Balm

This is a weird one for me as I haven’t used any product like this before. I tested it on dry hair and it did make the ends of my hair less frizzy, which is pretty cool! Still need to try this one out a bit more though to see if it is worth the price.

3.¬†Neal’s Yard Bee Lovely Hand Cream

Now this one is definitely worth the price. The best hand cream I have ever used and I will continue to use this forever haha! The scent is SO amazing, it smells so luxurious and I just do not have the words to explain it. The reason why I like it so much is that it absorbs into my skin SO fast so it doesn’t leave me with sticky hands after using it. The best part is that it completely fixed my skin where I had burnt myself with a straightener! It is so good!

4. REN Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream

I use this every day now before applying my make-up and so far it’s very lovely! Doesn’t leave my skin greasy and it hasn’t broken me out! So far I’m loving it!

5. Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm

I had never used a cleansing balm before so this is kind of a strange concept for me. I’ve tried it out a couple of times now and it’s really lovely. Definitely leaves my skin fresh and clean and it’s super easy to use as well. I probably wouldn’t replace it with my Simple skincare products as they are much cheaper but it is very nice to try it out! If you’re more of a designer brand kinda person, this might be the one for you!

6. Skyn Icelandic Relief Eye Cream

I’ve used this every day since I got it and I love it! I use this before going to bed and it absorbs to my skin instantly. It kind of feels like applying water on my skin as it’s not your usual eye cream. I always wake up refreshed and without those horrible bags under the eyes haha!

Nails by Leighton Denny:

  1. Red: Viva La Diva
  2. Orange Metallic: Let Your Hair Down
  3. Dark Purple: Raspberry Affair
  4. Pink: Peach Lemonade
  5. Clear: Crystal Finish

I Won The #TheBloggersHub Giveaway!

Explore. Improve. Create.

Hello, guys! I hope you’re having an amazing time whatever you are doing (unlike me who is ill in bed and has to take antibiotics). Today’s blog post is a little bit different. I hope to inspire people to either create something new, improve what they’ve already got or to go explore the world.

I have recently been getting messages¬†suggesting that¬†my YouTube channel and blogging career have inspired others to do the same. This is very surreal to me as I once was scared to start doing all of this in the first place. The very first YouTube videos I created were silly fandom videos (clips of celebrities edited to fit a song). I just liked the whole community of it and wanted to be more involved without people judging me. Very few people knew about this as I was very insecure about having a channel although I shouldn’t have been.

Years went past and I finally made my own personal YouTube channel about my life. More specifically, my travels. I’ve always loved exploring so I thought I’d share that passion with the world. I wanted to show people all the amazing places I’ve been to and all the experiences I’ve had. The feedback to this was lovely as I started sharing them on my personal social media accounts. More and more people started subscribing and keeping up to date with what I was doing, both on my channel and my blog. However, people wanted more, they wanted to see the person behind the camera and what she’s like.

f6bkycd4ufc-rob-bye.jpg

Then I took all the courage I had and started recording videos. Of myself. In my room. Actually speaking and looking at the camera. Something I never thought I’d have the courage to do. At first, of course I felt like the whole world was going to judge me. To my surprise, that did not happen. Everybody was so incredibly supportive, which made me keep going. I ended up vlogging my whole month of December and I still make videos every week to this day. I love this vlogger/blogger community and I have had some amazing opportunities offered to me, which were never possible before.

I guess the point of this story is for you to never give up (I know how cheesy that sounds). You might not want to become the next big YouTuber but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t pursue what YOU want to do. Forget about other people and the possibility of judgement because at the end of the day, what matters is your happiness. Do what you love. Improve what you’re working on or start something new. Or go explore the world of options. It is all there for you.¬†Turn your dreams into reality –¬†it is all up to you.
