The End.

This is my last blog post as a UCBlogger, and it’s making me quite sad. When I first started this, I had no idea what to do and what to write about. I didn’t even really think people would read the things that I was writing about. I didn’t think I would even know how to write blog posts properly, making it engaging for people to want to read them.

I doubted myself but I still took up the opportunity to be a UCBlogger and I will never regret it. It has been one of the most rewarding experiences and I have learnt so much. I feel like I can express myself better rather than keeping everything to myself. It’s good to let your thoughts out to the world sometimes and see what others think without fearing judgement.

I know that there are so many of you that are afraid to share how you see the world with others because you think that others might not see it the way you do. I want you to know that the way you see the world is beautiful. Your talent is unique. Whether it’s photography, travelling, vlogging, designing or something else, share it with the world. Show the world what makes you special. Show the world what you can do because there are so many opportunities that you might not even think of that could come from this. Blog about your travelling journeys, show people the amazing photography. There will be people out there to appreciate it. Share your blogs or website links in the comments so we could all support one another. Let’s make this community an even happier place.

Although my journey as a UCBlogger has come to an end, my journey as a blogger has not. I have found a new passion in blogging and I will continue to do it. I will still share my thoughts and adventures with all of those who’d like to listen. I will do this because if you want to see a difference in the world, you have to do something about it yourself. Thank you for coming on this journey with me. I cannot wait to share the next chapter of my life with you.

Be the change you want to see.

Be kind, be humble.

Summer 2017 Bucket List!

So each summer I like to create a small bucket list of things I want to do or accomplish throughout the 3 months I have off. Since this is one of the last summers that I can enjoy completely free from typical 9-5 work, I’ve decided to make the most of it. I don’t want to waste away my last summer of freedom. I want to seize every opportunity and do everything I can to be the best me. These goals, aims or however you’d prefer to name them, can be as small or big as you want them to be. Some might even seem impossible but it’s important to dream big. Set yourself some outrageous goals because otherwise how would you be able to find out your full potential? So here’s my list, including the silliest little things to some bigger goals I’d like to achieve.

1. Increase my water intake. I am the worst at getting my daily water intake. But summer is the best time to change that. I can already envision  all the lovely mint, lemon or strawberry ice waters I’m going to drink as well as the enormous amounts of watermelon I’m going to consume. And I’m so excited. I’ve already downloaded an app called My Water to ensure I hit my daily target. Get the app yourself & we can all encourage each other to drink more water and keep ourselves hydrated!

2. Go on a road trip. I just want to sit in a car and drive somewhere without having a set destination. Just drive, listen to music with our windows open and actually enjoy the journey itself, letting the road take us wherever it wants. I just want to seize the moment and not take anything for granted. The world is so beautiful, it’s up to us to enjoy it.

3. Gain 200 subscribers on my YouTube channel. This is kind of a personal goal of mine and it’s pretty specific. Lately I’ve been so into making videos and I love seeing my channel grow with more and more people enjoying the content I make. Seeing the number to reach 200 would mean so much to me. It would mean that people enjoy what I make as much as I enjoy making it. Of course it’s not all about the numbers, but you’ve got to set some sort of goals for yourself to measure your success.

4. Social Media Freelancing. I’d love to get some freelancing jobs in social media, creating design, scheduling content and overall managing the effectiveness of some business’s social media platforms. I also aim to create websites and social media platforms for companies that currently have no online presence whatsoever. It’s time to do something that I’m so passionate about.

5. Wear more skirts and dresses. I’ve never been the type of girl who wears dresses. I’m more of a jeans kinda girl. Well, this summer it’s time for a change. I don’t want to suffocate my legs in skinny jeans so I’m stepping out of my comfort zone and getting my legs a tan by wearing a dress and I’m going to enjoy it.

6. Go to festivals. This summer is the summer of festivals and events. Doesn’t matter where, I will be there. I want to make the most of the entertainment that the world offers, especially in the UK. After the past events happening, I think it’s so important to not be afraid of events. It’s important to stand together and not let others keep us from things we enjoy.

pablo-heimplatz-243307.jpg

7. Change my hair. I’m not entirely sure what I want to do with my hair but all I know is that I need a change. Maybe I should go a bit lighter? Maybe a bit more colourful? I’m not even sure yet so if you have any suggestions, let me know!

8. Create more unique content. I currently love all the posts and videos I create but I know I can do even better. I want to use all my skills to to create something unique. So I hope you guys will support me throughout this journey of becoming a more efficient me.

So these are my little bucket list goals that I would like to achieve this summer. Some things might be more challenging to others than you so if someone else sets goals that seem a bit silly to you, do not judge them. Let’s all support each other in achieving their dreams. Let’s live in love.

Be kind, be humble.

Summer 2017 Bucket List!

It’s coming to an end…

This week was my last week of lectures at my university. Not just the last one before summer holidays but the last one for good. I will never be at a lecture as a BA (Hons) Marketing with Events Management student at University College Birmingham again and that is actually unbelievable.

When I first moved to England, I felt like I had years to take it all in and have tons of amazing experiences. I had no idea three years would go past so quickly. I honestly don’t know how I’ve gone through SO many exams and assignments already. It is actually mind blowing. At the time of deadlines it seems like life is pretty much falling apart but now looking back at it all, I am going to miss all of it. Although we all might hate going to university sometimes because some lectures or assignments stress you out, or you’re just feeling incredibly lazy in the mornings, once it all ends, you feel this weird kind of sadness. I’m not sad to graduate. I am actually really excited to graduate. But I am sad to leave this place behind. All the memories created throughout these three years are unforgettable. I have made friends for life that I will treasure forever. I have studied in a completely different language (my native language is Estonian) for three years and I cannot believe I’ve actually done it. I remember being so excited to move to the UK and to study in Birmingham. It honestly feels like that was a month ago. But somehow it is all going to be over now.

I am so thankful for my parents for believing in me and supporting me with following my dreams. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them and I am eternally grateful. I hope they’re proud of all of my accomplishments and who I have become as a person throughout these years because it is all thanks to them.

I am so thankful for the amazing friendships I’ve made through these years, I’m sure you guys know who you are, and I love you all so much. Some of you I met at the beginning of this journey, some in the middle and some in the end and I cannot thank you enough for being in my life now and forever. You’ve made these three years incredible.

I am so thankful for all of the opportunities gained through studying this degree. It helped me discover my passion in social media marketing and gave me a new direction. If I had to do it all again, I would, and I wouldn’t change a thing.

To all of the students graduating this year, just because something ends, doesn’t mean something better won’t begin. Take all these experiences with you and start a new chapter of your life.

It’s coming to an end…

Should I go to university?

Hello everyone, I hope you’re doing well! This week I wanted to talk to you about some important life choices. Well, one of the most important life choices I would say. That is: what to do after high school? Should I go to university? Should I have a gap year? Should I scrap going to university and go straight to work? What course should I study once I do go to university?

All of these questions went through my mind three years ago when I graduated from high school and had absolutely no idea what to do next with my life. I considered having a gap year, however, I knew after a gap year I wouldn’t even feel motivated enough to proceed with my studies, so it wasn’t an option for me. Not going to university at all was never really something I wanted to do as having a degree increases your employability massively and I am too much of a career oriented person to let that go. So there I was, deciding to go to university without having any idea of what I wanted to study or do for the rest of my life. So if you’re in the same boat, don’t worry at all. Many of us go through this. The uncertainty is so nerve wrecking and makes us all panic a little bit but here’s what I decided to do…

baim-hanif-89800.jpg

I attended events at my high school where they would talk about various universities and degrees that got me looking at various universities. One of the booklets that I took with me was UCB’s. Once I read through all of the courses I just tried to find something I would potentially be interested in. I found events management quite an interesting industry so I decided to look more into that. My brother actually advised me to choose a degree to cover multiple fields in order to make sure I’d like at least some parts of it. Also, that means you learn more about various fields, therefore resulting in more job opportunities. That is how I found Marketing & Events Management and I am so glad I did. Through the three years of my studies I have actually started to love marketing and dislike events management. This is why I can honestly recommend choosing a degree that has at least two different aspects to it if you are not certain of what to study but are determined to go to university. It was honestly the best decision of my life because I no longer feel lost and uncertain about the future. I know marketing is going to be my career and I could not be happier.

Now the tough part, choosing the university. I applied to University College Birmingham, University of Central Lancashire, University of Bedfordshire and University of Northampton (as you can see, I was determined to study in the UK as that has been my dream all my life). When I got into all of them, I was extremely confused of what to do next. I mainly looked at student satisfaction and the location of the university. UCB has amazing support facilities for international students and since I knew I’d be so far from home, that was very important to me. Also, Birmingham is the second largest city in the UK and I’ve always been a lover of big cities so it sounded like a dream to me. This is how I decided that I would move from a small city in Estonia to the second largest city in the United Kingdom. One of the scariest but best decisions I have ever made.

I just wanted to let you know that whatever you decide is okay. But I also want you to know that although going to university might be a scary idea, it does not have to feel like that. Also, whatever makes your heart race is probably worth doing.

UCB Goes To International Confex 2017!

This Thursday, we (UCB Marketing with Events Management students) went to the International Confex of 2017 in Olympia London that is held every year. It is the UK’s leading event for event organisers across the world (hence the name ‘international’). This is all about the newest innovations within the events industry as nowadays everything needs a unique selling point otherwise it is extremely difficult and practically impossible to stand out from the crowd. It takes place for two days and we went on the last day. At this event, event industry professionals can buy various products or services for their events for amazing prices. Even though we are not quite events professionals yet, we were taken there in order to show the latest innovations in the industry. This also relates to our assignment for one of our modules Innovation in Events where we have to discuss the latest innovations and pick four of our favourites. I have definitely made my choice now (although the choices were endless at this event)!

1. These robots could walk and even dance (we saw an amazing dance to Gangnam Style). They look at you when you wave to them and sense your movements. I fell in love with the red robot and I feel like I need one in my life! Beware, they do cost a few thousand pounds though haha, not quite fit for my student budget!

2. All the ground floor stalls from up above.

3. The cutest Ice Cream car that can be hired to any event! Get your ice cream directly from this retro car, I found it SO cute!

4. Mega Booth aka the place we spent far too much of our time at because we were obsessed with their photo booth and the amazing backgrounds!

5. This is literally air / smoke that you can consume. You put your straw into this machine in the foggy air and voila – 0 calorie dessert that tastes like candy! This is by Lick Me I’m Delicious, which is just the coolest brand name ever! Even the cotton candy that they make is in so many different flavours and shoots out of the machine towards the sky! No doubt this would make your event one to remember.

6. This is for all those adventure lovers! So many opportunities to have forest adventures around the UK (I believe they said they are in 30 cities/towns!).

7. The coolest place you can eat at as this is a restaurant, bar AND a club! Get all those experiences in one!

8. Beautiful balloons filled with anything you’d like AND they promote your brand logo on it! Would be so amazing for product / brand launches!

9. I just liked the design of this bar… That’s about it haha!

10. You could even get your brows done for free at the event AND they gave amazing deals for all the products they used! Got to love student bargains!

11. This is a robot that walks, talks, dances, cries and just has a mind of its own. Oh, by the way, it’s the robot that Rihanna hangs out with. HOW COOL IS THAT?

12. GuineaPig was one of my favourite parts. They’re basically balloons that just move to the rhythm of the music. It was so weird but so wonderful at the same time and I don’t even know why. So if your event involves music, I think you pretty much need these in your life.

13. This stand provided the most awesome bubbles I’ve ever seen. The tiny bubbles would turn into smoke once they burst – WHAT? How’s that even possible? And they would even put you inside of the giant bubbles! Definitely entertainment worth thinking about!

What I Eat In A Day 2: Easy & Vegan

Hello guys! I’m back with another “What I Eat In A Day” blog post and this time I’ve decided to show you some vegan meals I like to cook. I’m vegetarian, not vegan, but I try to incorporate various types of foods in my diet (if you can call it that haha). Here are some of my super easy vegan meals, which are actually quite affordable!

1. Breakfast: Yogurt & Fruit

A161FEFD-A32B-4F16-A2F6-3B5E7828EDAE.jpg

This is the most simple breakfast but also the best. You can alternate it to whichever flavour yogurt or fruit you want on the day so this is definitely my favourite breakfast of all time.  Here is what I used (and what I recommend).

You will need:

  • Vegan natural yogurt (I used Alpro’s simple plain yogurt)
  • Tangerines (I used two)
  • Banana

Suggestions:

  • Honey – if using Greek style yogurt (vegetarian, not vegan)
  • Chia seeds – to boost your metabolism
  • Cashews – for extra crunch

Recipe:

This is very simple, as you can probably imagine. Put one serving of the yogurt a bowl (check the packaging how many servings it includes). Mix in some chia seeds and cashews. Cut up a banana, peel the tangerines and put them on top. All done! Perfect for when you’re running late to uni.

2. Lunch: Veggie Stir Fry

556FC381-1338-40B1-8E36-F7616E92BF06.jpg

Another one of my favourites because it is SO quick and easy! It can also be altered with what vegetables you like to have – I personally have different ones every time! Or you can simply buy a stir fry mix. Here’s what I used this time…

You will need:

  • Udon Noodles (I used Amoy Straight to Wok Udon Thick Noodles)
  • Stir Fry Sauce (I used Amoy Stir Fry Chow Many Sauce)
  • Beansprouts
  • Cauliflower & Broccoli

Recipe:

Now the portions are completely up to you. This recipe is for two portions – or to have on the next day as well. Put a handful of broccoli and cauliflower in a pan and fry with a little bit of oil (I use frozen vegetables as you can get massive bags for a pound from Tesco) until they’re soft and starting to get a tiny bit golden. Add beansprouts, stir for another minute. Add the stir fry sauce, stir for a minute again. Add the noodles, stir it all together, let it cook for one minute and done! So quick and easy!

3. Dinner: Mashed Potatoes

IMG_8142.JPG

This is the easiest but also most comforting food of all. Potatoes are very important for people in Estonia so whenever I have mash, it reminds me of home (especially since my dad makes THE BEST mash in the world). Here’s the most simple recipe you’ll ever read…

You will need:

  • Potatoes (six-eight large potatoes, you can always add more)
  • Milk (I used Alpro’s Soya Milk)
  • Butter (I used dairy free margarine)
  • Salt (I used sea salt for extra health benefits)

Recipe:

Peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes (as this way they boil quicker). Boil in water until soft (takes about 20 minutes) with about half a tsp of sea salt. Drain the potatoes from water when they’re ready. In the same pan, mash them with a fork. Then add the butter (about 1 tbsp) and some milk (add a little bit at a time until you like the creaminess). Now use a hand blender to make it extremely smooth or keep mashing with a fork. And that’s it! So simple!

I hope you guys liked these recipes! Make sure to tweet me @UCBloggers if you try any of these out! Have an amazing day!
